Diabetes prevalence is rapidly increasing with 1,600,000 new cases of diabetes diagnosed every year. The healthcare challenges associated with this chronic disease necessitate competent, knowledgeable healthcare professionals who provide patients with the most current treatment strategies. Putting Diabetes Educators at the Top of the Class continuing education (CE) seminar prepares healthcare providers with the current knowledge about the diagnosis, pathology and treatment of diabetes mellitus. This comprehensive two-day class will also prepare eligible diabetes educators with the essential information to take the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) exam.
This continuing education workshop, held in Mercerville (Trenton), NJ, will highlight the types of diabetes, discuss monitoring blood sugar levels, explain techniques for promoting safe medication use, integrate nutritional and activity treatment approaches, describe management issues for special populations, and review the qualifications for certified diabetes educators (CDE).

Tracey Long, RN, BSN, MS, CDE grew up in sunny California and later braved the cold in Provo, Utah where she earned two degrees at Brigham Young University in nursing and Spanish. In college, she traveled with the speech and debate team, studied abroad in Europe, and then toured the Orient with the National Ballroom Dance Champion Team. Tracey served one and one-half years as a health welfare missionary to Colombia. She developed Spanish programs in health education and diabetes for local hospitals in Las Vegas, Nevada where she now resides. She earned her masters degree in public health education at the California College of Health Sciences and is currently a PhD Student at UNLV in nursing/health education. She currently teaches as an adjunct faculty at UNLV in medical Spanish and nursing at CCSN. To keep her sense of humor she has taught home preschool for 13 years.

Cancellation and Refund Policy for Seminars:
Phone cancellations must be confirmed in writing. Cancellations received four weeks prior to the seminar receive a full refund of the registration fee. Cancellations received after four weeks and up to seven days prior to the seminar are assessed a $50 processing fee. Cancellations received seven days prior to the seminar or “no shows” are nonrefundable. Registration fees are transferable to an upcoming seminar within the same calendar year (expires December 31 each year) or to another participant. In the event that a seminar is cancelled, a full refund will be issued.
